High-resolution ultrasound enhances results of femoral nerve conduction studies

The use of high-resolution ultrasound (HRUS) produces better results than conventional methods for femoral nerve conduction studies, according to researchers presenting at AOCN-IANCON 2022.

HRUS is increasingly used to find the exact location of the femoral nerve and optimize stimulator placement, noted Dr Abhinay Gattu and colleagues at CARE Hospitals in Hyderabad, India. Without HRUS, errors can occur due to inaccurate stimulator placement, interference from subcutaneous fat, and anatomical variation.
